Jerrold G. Erves
To the members of SNMA,
Hans K. Owuor is a natural leader who has held multiple roles within and outside the Student National Medical Association. Currently, he serves in positions as Future Leadership Project Fellow, Grants Subcommittee Chair and Region IX Treasurer. During his undergraduate years, he served as the Assistant Surgeon General for the Eastern Region of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and Founder/President of the City College of New York Black Student Council. Additionally, his commitments at City College in undergraduate student government, include serving as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs Senator. I especially feel he should be commended for this because colleges often have multiple departments and divisions with asynchronous oversight and management. Hans’ ability to professionally navigate these divisions with the extensive success he has demonstrated, is impressive.
His support of students whether academically through tutoring, advisory by engaging in wellness check- ins, has been of significant and undulating impact on younger students. He is fondly viewed as a leader, incredibly thoughtful, compassionate and kind. All this while managing his commitments to being a CUNY School of Medicine second year medical student.
Hans is poised, industrious, self-motivated and comfortable in settings affording him the opportunity to learn, serve and lead. Hans challenges himself, peers and contributes to favorable outcomes that ripple the organizational and clinical landscape. He is an extraordinary candidate for Student National Medical Association President-Elect.
It is with utmost confidence, enthusiasm, respect and earnest support that I recommend Hans K. Owuor for the position President Elect for the Student National Medical Association. He is quite the impressive, leader, mentor, role model, voice of reason and compromiser.
Sincerely,
Jerrold G. Erves
